Laura Joann Baut (class of 2018) was born on November 3rd at Nesbitt Hospital to Donna and Gerhard Baut, a local artist. Raised in Luzerne County, she graduated from Holy Redeemer High School in 2014. Laura is a member of Misericordia’s Commuter Council and History Club.  Upon graduation from Misericordia, she plans to attend graduate school. Her passions include domestic / international travel, learning about World War II in Europe, and British culture.

Michael Boutanos (Class of 2018) is from Kingston, PA, and attended Holy Redeemer High School. He is an English secondary education major at Misericordia University. Michael is also an assistant varsity boys’ basketball coach at Crestwood High School. In the future, Michael hopes to become a high school English teacher and a head basketball coach.  During his free time, Michael enjoys watching movies, performing card tricks, and volunteering in the community.

Gaetano Buonsante (Class of 2019) was born in 1996 and grew up in Dallas, Pennsylvania. He is currently a Government, Law, and National Security major at Misericordia University, and hopes to attain a minor in both History and Psychology before graduation. Gaetano’s interest in government and politics stems from his high school’s speech and debate team, a team he continues to be a part of as a dedicated coach. During high school, he was Vice President of the Luzerne County Teenage Republicans and has always had a devotion for lending a helping hand. He plans to pursue a career that would allow him to continue serving those in need within his community. His interests include playing the piano, 3-D printing, and mastering seemingly-impossible video games.

Stefany Krasson (Class of 2019) is a 2015 graduate from Wyoming Valley West High school. She is pursuing a degree in History with a specialization in pre-law. She is a member of Misericordia University’s Commuter Council, History Club, and Honors Program. Her plan is to continue on to law school to study corporate law. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering at religious organizations and going on missions trips to foreign countries such as Guatemala. Some of her interests are learning languages such as Spanish, going on outdoor adventures, and becoming a bread and cheese connoisseur.

Briana Scorey (Class of 2019) was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Holy Redeemer High School as valedictorian of the Class of 2015. She is currently pursuing a double major in English Literature and History at Misericordia, and plans to enter graduate study at the University of Reading (UK) upon graduation. Briana is a coach for the Holy Redeemer Speech and Debate Team and is a member of Misericordia University’s Honors Program, History club, Literary Magazine staff, and Commuter Council. She is an avid book nerd who hopes to improve the lives of others, especially teenagers, through literature. Some of her passions include exploring Greek mythology & history, obsessing over Harry Potter, and asking unnecessarily deep questions.

Michael Shott  (Class of 2019) is a graduate of Hazleton Area High School. He also participated in the Boy scouts during his middle, and high school education, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Michael is working towards a degree in Government, Law, and National Security. He is also enrolled in Army ROTC, and plans to advance in the spring of 2019 to a commissioned officer of the US Army. He plans to work in an active duty Military Intelligence unit or infantry unit. Later, he wants to work either in the Central Intelligence Agency or a United States Secret Service Agent. Michael enjoys taking patriotic photos every holiday.
